Our model of transformational teamwork
Connecting leaders to their team to unlock the team’s potential to lead complex change, reinvent a system, and adapt to uncertainty
Our model of transformational teamwork starts with creating the conditions for transformational teamwork (such as a clear purpose and vision). Then the team practices three essential skills: mutual accountability, inclusive communication, and continuous learning—all of which can be developed thoughtfully to create a host of downstream human and business outcomes.
Three skills.
Mutual accountability
Committing to a shared purpose and goals, translating ideas to action and to seeing them through to completion.
Teams skilled in mutual accountability are able to clarify expectations and delegate ownership, to hold themselves and their teammates to a higher standard, and to trust that each person will follow through on their commitments to the team.
Inclusive communication
Listening deeply and considering outside perspectives.
Teams skilled in inclusive communication draw out all voices in the room. They question their own ideas and admit their limitations. They effectively manage conflict, ensuring fairness and avoiding emotionally-charged personal attacks.
Continuous learning
Growing individually and collectively from each success and failure.
Teams skilled in continuous learning view failure as an opportunity for improvement and dare to give and receive feedback, no matter how hard. They challenge themselves and their teams to learn a new skill, consider a new perspective, and step outside of their comfort zone for the sake of continuous improvement.
